Thanks for your support! It's crazy to think in this day and age buying an adequate house in nice location can be so difficult. If only we had the same opportunities as our parents 25-30 years ago - a decent place back then would have only cost £10 - £15k! That's not even enough for a deposit nowadays...

 

We just want to get on and move now...and the worry is we get trapped and can't afford what we want in Brighton. Miss the coast terribly - at least you're own a short stroll away!

 

We're on with a new agent as from today, so hopefully a fresh agent will mean fresh viewings. Fingers crossed!

I totally feel for you both. I was born in Brighton, my Dad was raised there too but I have been unable to buy a house there for years. I tried about 9 years ago (I'm almost 30 now) and watched as the prices of studios shot out of my league within a couple of months. I'm now in King's Lynn, Norfolk with a decent job having just put in an offer on a two-bed terrace - cross fingers and touch wood everything goes through. I would never in my wildest dreams have afforded this back home but here this is just shy of £100k and has the benefit of a fast train to King's Cross (1hr40mins - not bad). I've just checked the situation on rightmove and would only get something if I was really old (ie. retirement) or a front line key worker!

 

So I have to lump KL for the time being - doesn't quite have the flair and fun that Brighton has - I feel pretty out of place here sometimes, especially in this beautiful weather where I'd be sitting down the beach with the rest of the city enjoying ourselves. C'est les vie - I guess I'm lucky that I've got mates houses to crash at over the bank holiday.
